Aiden Mitchell (he/him) is a student from Campbell River, British Columbia. Mitchell is a committed advocate for human rights, especially LGBTQ+ rights. The Matchstick provides an opportunity for Mitchell to use his web development skills to help a cause close to his heart. In addition to The Matchstick, he leads the LGBTQ+ Campaign at the BC Youth Council, where he works to raise awareness about LGBTQ+ issues and advocates for the banning of conversion therapy. Mitchell hopes to see LGBTQ+ people become more accepted by the general public, especially through changes to laws that make homosexuality illegal and which can lead to the death penalty.
He believes that no one deserves to be persecuted for their sexual orientation and/or identity.
